Clinical Supervision for Social Workers & Play Therapists Working with Children and Families

A warm, collaborative space to deepen your practice and feel genuinely supported in the work.

If you've had supervision that felt like a tick-box exercise - where cases got reviewed but you left feeling unseen, unsupported, or no clearer than when you arrived - I offer something different.

I offer clinical supervision for social workers and therapists working with children, families, and complex systems. My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply grounded in child and family practice - bringing together attachment theory, trauma-informed frameworks, and a systemic lens that recognises the importance of world the child and family live in.

Whether you're a social worker navigating the complexity of child and family systems, or a play therapist who thinks beyond the therapy room and wants supervision that meets that - there's a space here for you.

Who I work with

Social workers working with children and families

Including those working in child protection, out-of-home care, family support, school settings, and private practice. Supervision towards AMHSW accreditation available.

Play therapists with a systemic lens

For play therapists who work collaboratively with families, schools, and other systems around the child - and want supervision that thinks beyond the therapy room.

Counsellors, psychotherapists & allied health practitioners

Working with children, adolescents, and families across community, school, and private practice settings.

My Approach

My supervision approach is grounded in attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, and a systemic approach to child and family work. I bring a social work lens - one that considers the family, community, and organisational systems shaping the people you work with - alongside a deep understanding of child-centred and play-based approaches.

I'm particularly interested in working with practitioners who think systemically - who want to understand not just the child in the room, but the world around them.

Testimonials

"I have been accessing supervision with Shivonne for over a year now. Shivonne has a diverse range of skills which is supported by significant experience in the field, which I have found helps bridge theory, real life clinical work and my learning needs together. As someone who has qualifications in Social Work & Play Therapy, I have felt Shivonne’s qualifications match nicely with my own, as it enables Shivonne to support my learning as an integrative therapist. Shivonne is responsive and able to adequately cater for my learning in the supervision space. Shivonne has been able to foster a space where I can learn, grow and reflect so that I can continue to improve my clinical skills and enhance the support I provide to my clients. I highly recommend Shivonne for anyone who may be seeking clinical supervision."
Hayley Allan - Registered Play Therapist

"Supervision with Shivonne is calm, supportive, and helpful. I feel comfortable bringing both clinical reflections and private practice ideas into the space, and she always offers clear, practical feedback that strengthens my skills and confidence. Her guidance is aligned with AMHSW standards and has helped me refine my professional thinking. I'd highly recommend her to any social worker working towards AMHSW accreditation, especially if you're looking for supervision that is both warm and focused."

Individual Supervision

Individual supervision offers a dedicated, reflective space to bring the full complexity of your work - the hard cases, the ethical dilemmas, the moments of uncertainty, and the questions about who you're becoming as a clinician.

Sessions are collaborative and strengths-based, while also making room to sit with difficulty, be gently challenged, and grow over time. You can expect warmth, practical reflection, and supervision that takes both the work and the worker seriously.

We may explore:

Case formulation · Working with trauma, attachment, and neurodiversity · Complex family dynamics · Managing risk and safeguarding · Transference and countertransference · Ethical decision-making · Professional identity · Burnout prevention · Private practice development

Investment:

$180 — 60 minute session via Zoom · In-person available in Wheelers Hill, Melbourne

Group Supervision

Group supervision offers a different experience to individual supervision - the opportunity to think, reflect, and learn alongside peers engaged in similar areas of clinical work. In a small, psychologically safe group, there is space to explore cases collaboratively, consider multiple perspectives, and reduce the isolation that can accompany child and family-focused practice.

These groups provide a consistent reflective space to integrate clinical theory with practice, and to explore the emotional, relational, and ethical dimensions of therapeutic work within a supportive peer context.

How group supervision works

Group supervision is facilitated in small cohorts (capped at 3–4 participants) to support safety, depth, and meaningful engagement. Sessions are held online via Zoom.

Groups are curated as ongoing supervision cohorts, formed based on shared clinical focus, experience level, and availability. This allows for strong group fit and supports the development of a consistent, contained supervision experience.

Groups are designed as longer-term reflective spaces, typically meeting monthly over an initial 6-month cycle, with the option to continue beyond this where there is mutual fit and availability. This continuity supports trust, reflective depth, and sustained professional connection within the group.

Who this is for

Group supervision is best suited to practitioners working in child, adolescent, and family-focused contexts, including (but not limited to):

  • Social workers in therapeutic, community, or school-based roles

  • Play therapists and play-informed practitioners

  • Counsellors and psychologists working with children and families

  • Allied health practitioners in developmental, NDIS, or trauma-informed settings

This supervision may be a good fit if you are seeking a reflective and supportive clinical space to integrate theory with the emotional and interpersonal realities of therapeutic work. It is well suited to practitioners who value depth, reflection, and continuity in supervision.

Investment

$95 per participant per 90-minute session (via Zoom, monthly).
